Pat began his career with Dysart Taylor as a summer law clerk after the completion of his first year of
law school in 1976. He was involved in numerous major regulatory cases involving truck
transportation industry in the late 1970s.
While developing a substantial working background in the transportation industry, Pat has been
successfully litigating a wide variety of civil disputes in both the state and federal court systems
involving not only the truck transportation industry, but personal injury and wrongful death, insurance
coverage, employment rights, property disputes, and various commercial transactions. He has also
counseled numerous business clients to assist in their successful growth.
Pat’s litigation experience is substantial and noteworthy. He obtained one of the ten largest verdicts
in the state of Missouri in 2000, a $5.1 million verdict, also thought to be the largest verdict ever
awarded by a Saline County, Missouri jury.
Pat has successfully defended major trucking companies against severe injury and death claims for more than two decades. He was counsel for a major interstate trucking company in a landmark case in 2001, in which a runaway negligent commercial driver and his employer were identified and successfully prosecuted in a civil case through utilization of satellite communications records.
For nearly
fifteen years, Pat has assisted local communities with their litigation needs ranging from water
rights to police protection. In some instances, the positive results obtained have brought about
significant developments in local government law.
Pat has
been an active member of The Missouri Bar’s
Transportation Committee, and continues
to be an active and contributing member
of the Transportation Lawyers Association,
an international association of transportation
attorneys, for which he has served as the
chair of the Intermodal Committee and the
Alternative Dispute Resolution committee.
He has lectured at three annual conferences
of this group, including presentations to the Transportation
Law Institute.
