Managing Director Announcement
John F. Wilcox, Jr. has been elected Managing Director of Dysart Taylor, effective January 1, 2012. In this capacity, John will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the firm and will continue his full-time practice in the areas of trucking and transportation, personal injury, employment and criminal litigation. John is a graduate of Missouri State University and earned his law degree from the University of Kansas. John joined the firm in 2000 and became a shareholder and director in 2004. He and his wife, Melissa, reside in Overland Park, Kansas with their two children. John is involved in a number of bar and community activities particularly those involving the Transportation Lawyers Association and Notre Dame de Sion School of Kansas City. He replaces Thomas E. Roszak, who served as managing director since January 2009.
Dysart Taylor Named "Top Ranked Firm" by Martindale-Hubbell
The prominent attorney-rating service, Martindale-Hubbell, has selected Dysart Taylor as a “Top Ranked Law Firm.” Dysart Taylor’s selection will be published in Fortune magazine’s 2012 Investors Guide edition. Dysart Taylor has previously received a distinguished “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell. An AV-rating recognizes “very high to preeminent” professional ability in the areas in which the law firm practices and is an acknowledgment of the firm’s “very high” adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities.
Bartalos serves as Chair of the Young Friends of Art at the Nelson-Atkins
Molly Bartalos has been selected to serve as the Chair of the Young Friends of Art (“YFA”) at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. YFA is designed for young professionals interested in supporting arts and culture in the Kansas City community. Bartalos has served as the YFA’s Program Chair, Secretary and Vice-Chair prior to her current role as Chair.
McMonigle elected President of Transportation Lawyers Association
Pat McMonigle was elected President of the Transportation Lawyers Association (“TLA”) at the Association’s annual conference on May 14, 2011. Ken Hoffman was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award as a result of his many years of continuous service. The TLA is an independent, international bar association consisting of over a thousand member attorneys who assist transportation companies and their customers and is on the forefront of keeping its members aware of and ahead of the constant changes in all aspects of the specialized legal environment affecting the transportation community. Dysart Taylor has a long history of participation and service in the Association with McMonigle serving as the sixth TLA President from the firm.

Brumitt Appointed Attorney for Kansas City Chapter of American Subcontractors Association
Lee Brumitt has been appointed attorney for the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Subcontractors Association. Mr. Brumitt, a regular contributor to the Association’s educational programs, has served on the KCASA for 4 years. The KCASA is one of 37 local chapters of the American Subcontractors Association, a national organization advocating and representing the interests of approximately 5,000 member firms of subcontractors, specialty contractors, and material suppliers before all branches and levels of government. The KCASA fosters and promotes the interests of subcontractors and suppliers in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Steve Bahr Serves as Estate Planning Expert
On March 3, 2011 Steve Bahr served on a panel comprised of top financial advisors, CPA’s and insurance advisors presenting to a group of business owners on business succession planning and exit planning. This seminar was attended by a wide range of business owners in the Kansas City and surrounding communities and included a presentation by each panel participant and a comprehensive question and answer period. This presentation was sponsored by Cretcher Heartland, located in Overland Park, Kansas. On Thursday, March 24, 2011, Mr. Bahr participated in a financial workshop for women at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park, Kansas. Such workshop was sponsored by AXA Advisors. Steve’s presentation included, “Estate Planning - the documents everyone should have.”
Ketchum Elected as Officer of Missouri Bar
Mandy Pennington Ketchum was elected as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Missouri Bar Young Lawyers Council.
Bartalos and Ketchum Leaders of Association for Women’s Lawyers
Molly Bartalos and Mandy Pennington Ketchum are serving as the chair and vice-chair of the Judicial Committee for the Association for Women Lawyers’ Board of Directors in 2011.
John Wilcox Leads Fundraising Committee
John Wilcox recently served as Chairman of the Community Sponsorship Committee for Notre Dame de Sion’s Gala Auction. The committee’s mission was to raise underwriting funds for the auction which is the school’s largest annual fundraiser. John’s committee raised over $85,000.00 in donations from various local businesses and individuals. Overall, the auction brought in almost $400,000.00. Notre Dame de Sion is an independent Catholic school providing college preparatory education from preschool through grade twelve.
Cotter to Continue Service to a Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers’ Board of Directors
Robert Cotter was nominated and elected to serve another three-year term on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers (MODL). MODL was established to help defense attorneys provide the highest quality representation for clients throughout the state. Since its inception in 1984, the organization has supported the state`s defense lawyers with continuing legal education programs, amicus curiae briefs and a wide variety of information assistance programs. In addition, MODL has sought, through its legislative efforts, to balance the scales of justice for all citizens.
