Dysart Taylor is pleased to announce directors Lee Brumitt and Meghan Litecky were honored as Pro Bono Champions by the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) and Legal Aid of Western Missouri as part of the Project Pro Bono initiative.

The August issue of KC Counselor, the official publication of the KCMBA, highlighted the pro bono case – that lasted more than two years – that earned Brumitt and Litecky the recognition. A judge noted the case, saying, “These volunteers never wavered in their pro bono commitment and did not step back from that commitment despite the unanticipated legal maneuvering required of them. Today, a client who would have been hopelessly and helplessly victimized is instead at peace. And she has volunteers who recognized the value of making a difference in the name of our profession to thank.”

Launched in 2013, Project Pro Bono is a partnership between KCMBA and Legal Aid of Western Missouri with the purpose of encouraging law firms to help expand the availability of pro bono legal services in the Kansas City area.

More than 35 years into his practice, Brumitt has a passion protecting his clients’ businesses and helping them grow. He focuses his practice in construction law and litigation, representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals on public, commercial and residential projects.

Litecky focuses her practice on a variety of civil litigation and personal injury matters, ranging from advising trucking companies in wrongful death actions to defending small businesses in professional liability claims.
