Dysart Taylor Cotter & McMonigle, P.C., is pleased to announce Managing Partner Amanda Pennington Ketchum was recently featured in a Kansas City Business Journal article, where she discusses the firm’s growth strategy, attorney well-being and the lack of women and minorities in leadership roles.

In the article, Ketchum outlines the changes she’s been implementing at the firm since becoming Managing Partner in 2015, including her work to adapt the “midsize” firm into a firm that can thrive among – and outbid – larger firms in the area. Describing how she hopes to market the firm’s strengths, Ketchum states, “I think resisting that urge to kind of become a niche-type firm is something that we’re always talking about. We do a ton of transportation, but we handle almost anything and everything.”

Ketchum also shares how the firm as a whole is prioritizing attorney wellness and well-being, which includes allowing the attorneys and staff members more free time. In addition, Ketchum laments the slow pace of change when it comes to diversity in the legal community. She encourages younger professionals to take on leadership positions, especially those directly offered to them. In the article’s conclusion, Ketchum states, “I think it’s important that we step up when asked. Usually, if other people are believing in you, then you should believe in yourself.”

Ketchum focuses her practice on a variety of civil litigation ranging from representing trucking companies in wrongful death actions and retailers in slip-and-fall claims to helping professionals navigate a malpractice claim.
