Dysart Taylor is pleased to announce shareholder/director Michael Judy was a video presenter at USLAW NETWORK’s first-ever virtual retreat, where he spoke on the role of transportation and logistic companies in ensuring driver and client safety during the pandemic.
As part of its 2020 conference, USLAW launched its Lightning Round: 5-Minute Drills, fast-paced presentations on a broad range of timely issues in eight distinct practice areas, including Professional Liability and Retail and Hospitality Law.
In his five-minute video, Judy teamed up with Chris Cotter, a shareholder at Roetzel & Andress, to tackle the latest hot topics in Transportation and Logistics. In his presentation, Negligent Supervision of Drivers Due to Remote Workforces and Contactless Monitoring, Judy discussed what transportation companies can and should do to protect their drivers from COVID-19 exposure. The conversation answered important questions, including should companies provide drivers with PPE; how can a company monitor a driver’s health; and what is a transportation company’s responsibility to its clients, drivers and society as a whole?
Judy also emphasized that many pandemic-related issues will linger, even after “normal” returns, including the recent increase in claims of negligent hiring, training and supervision. These numbers could continue to rise as more COVID-19 lawsuits are filed.
The 10-day conference ran from Sept. 30-Oct. 9 and was designed for legal decision-makers. The retreat covers everything from upcoming legislation and emerging technologies to how COVID-19 has impacted the claims environment and how recent decisions are impacting overall policies and operations.
USLAW NETWORK is an international, invite-only organization of nearly 100 independent, defense-based law firms with more than 6,000 attorneys covering the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Dysart Taylor is the only firm in Kansas City that is a member of USLAW.
