Clayton Comley is a former prosecutor who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in thinking strategically and critically. Clayton has a strong understanding of how to guide his clients through complex matters throughout the entire legal process.
Specifically, Clayton has a background in dealing with both misdemeanor and violent crimes, with matters including DUI, assault, robbery and murder, and he has tried more than 30 cases to jury verdict related to those matters. His experience in representing state governments gives him a unique perspective on how to provide his clients with the best support and guidance necessary to resolve matters.
Clayton’s private practice will focus on civil litigation and dispute resolution.
Prior to joining Dysart Taylor, Clayton spent several years as a prosecuting attorney, including serving as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Jackson County (Missouri) Prosecutor’s Office working within the Violent Crimes Unit. He also served as an assistant district attorney at the Harris County (Texas) District Attorney’s Office. There he served as a prosecutor across multiple divisions and handled a large variety of criminal matters from the early stages of investigation to the conclusion as a trial litigator.
Clayton is licensed to practice in Kansas, Missouri and Texas.

- Lead trial counsel on seventeen cases tried to jury verdict including, but not limited to, murder, robbery and assault.
- Counseled on numerous trials, hearings and proceedings involving violent offenses.
- Handled a docket of violent crimes including interviewing witnesses, arguing pretrial motions, handling plea negotiations and courtroom litigation.
- Educated and assigned grand jury on criminal procedure, penal code and grand jury process.
- Acted as advisory counsel for law enforcement in criminal investigation progression and charging decisions.
