Dysart Taylor is pleased to announce that John Thompson has been elected as a shareholder/director of the firm effective Jan. 1, 2020.

Whether helping a publicly-traded company, a startup business or a family with its estate, Thompson focuses his practice on helping clients achieve both their personal and business interests. For more than a decade, he has guided clients through the process of developing structured business plans to meet these goals and objectives.

As a business and corporate lawyer, he helps lending institutions, corporations, family businesses, entrepreneurs and investors eliminate risks associated with corporate transactions. He advises clients on complex commercial financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and debt restructurings. Thompson also helps individuals and businesses plan for the future with estate planning and business succession services.

Thompson is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law and obtained his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Kansas State University. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of Kansas, the United States District Court, District of Western Missouri, the State of Kansas, the State of Missouri, and the State of Nebraska.

Prior to joining the firm, Thompson worked for a China-focused private equity fund where he handled the sourcing, due diligence and reporting requirements for the firm’s equity investments in Hong Kong and mainland China. He also worked in the private client services division of a trust and asset management company where he advised clients in the areas of investment management, estate planning and pension plan design.
