With over a decade of experience representing clients in complex business litigation matters, Maya Kapadia brings a strategic and thoughtful approach to her practice that supports her clients’ goals and objectives, from case initiation through trial and post-trial. Maya is an advocate for her clients, defending them through the entire litigation process and always aiming to protect their businesses.
Maya’s expertise centers around breach of contract and business tort claims, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition and more. She also handles general corporate and intellectual property matters, with a specialization in trademark law.
Prior to joining Dysart Taylor, Maya served as an of counsel attorney at a full-service law firm based in California. Maya practiced with the firm remotely from Kansas City since 2016. She was the lead litigation associate for cases involving domestic and international litigation of corporate fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, product liability class action defense, shareholder and partnership disputes, and corporate governance, as well as real estate, malpractice, and employment law.

Experience:
- Obtained preliminary injunction and writ of attachment for cosmetics manufacturing client, resulting in attachment of $2.4 million of former employee’s assets and enjoining the receipt of over $300,000 in proceeds from sale of real property.
- Researched and authored critical briefs and dispositive motions and provided full litigation support for team representing minority shareholders in a matter involving fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and seeking dissolution of corporation, resulting in judgment awarding $2.7 million in damages, plus attorneys’ fees, and dissolution.
- Prepared key briefs regarding complex fraud claims in multiresidential real estate matter, leading to a decisive victory; obtained default judgment of $1.5 million in malpractice claim against clients’ prior counsel.
- Obtained $1 million default judgment, plus attorneys’ fees, on federal and state securities fraud claims on behalf of investors in a high-profile Ponzi scheme involving entities in the hospitality industry.
- Successfully procured dismissal of untimely appeal before Ninth Circuit challenging the validity of settlement agreement on behalf of investors.
