Dysart Taylor McMonigle Brumitt & Wilcox, P.C. is thrilled to welcome three new attorneys to the firm as associates: Libby Baker, Erica Garrett and Clay Karpowich.
Libby Baker joins the firm after serving as a law clerk handling criminal defense, personal injury and workers’ compensation matters. Her extensive experience includes drafting pleadings, managing evidence and supporting attorneys through trials, depositions and mediations across state, federal and appellate courts. Baker’s experience provided her with a unique point of view that will allow her to work collaboratively with her clients to achieve their strategic goals.
Erica Garrett first joined Dysart Taylor as a law clerk in 2025, focusing on civil litigation and insurance defense. She also previously served as a paralegal in the Litigation Division of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, assisting with trial preparation, witness interviews and exhibits, and held roles at a rural law firm and an insurance company. These experiences helped form Garrett’s deep understanding of the legal process and knowledge needed to be an advocate for her clients.
Clay Karpowich brings significant experience in personal injury, insurance defense and criminal defense. Karpowich previously served as an assistant public defender in Olathe, Kansas, gaining extensive courtroom and jury trial experience. Prior to joining Dysart Taylor, Karpowich managed over 200 personal injury matters at an Overland Park law firm, handling all phases of representation from intake and investigation to settlement negotiations and trial preparation. Karpowich’s strategic thinking skills and case experience allow him to be an ally for his clients from case inception through to trial.
“Dysart Taylor is beyond excited to welcome Libby, Erica and Clay to the firm,” said Managing Director Michael Judy. “Their knowledge and experience will make them valuable assets to both the firm as a whole and to the clients they will serve. I am confident that these attorneys will be collaborative team members who will keep their clients’ business goals at the forefront of their work.”
Baker completed both her undergraduate degree in political science and law degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Garrett earned her undergraduate degree in Linguistics with minors in English and Justice Systems from Truman State University. She went on to earn her law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. She also completed the Paralegal Certification Program at the University of Central Missouri.
