Bio
With experience across a variety of practice areas, including medical malpractice, construction and transportation, Elizabeth Judy advises and represents national, regional and local clients through all phases of liability claims and associated litigation processes. She develops proactive legal strategies aligned with her client’s business and operational goals at the forefront, seeking outcomes that limit financial and reputational risks.
Elizabeth’s private practice also includes experience with business and corporate transactions and labor and employment law.
Prior to joining Dysart Taylor, Elizabeth served as special counsel at a regional defense firm, representing major corporations at the state and federal level. Elizabeth has also had the opportunity to work at Kansas City firms and as Deputy County Counselor for the Jackson County Counselor’s Office. Before private practice, she served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable W. Brent Powell at the Jackson County Circuit Court.
While earning her law degree at the University of Missouri School of Law, Elizabeth served as an intern with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri and the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. She is currently a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
Elizabeth is licensed to practice in Missouri, Kansas and California (inactive).
Experience:
- Defended FELA and related lawsuits as part of regional firm’s Railroad Practice Group, providing guidance to transportation clients, including Class I Railroads.
- Advocated for Fortune 100 corporations in various stages of litigation and via alternative dispute resolution to satisfactory results.
- Extensive experience in legal research, motion practice and alternative dispute resolution.
- Addressed evolving legal situations within county departments in administrative, litigation and transactional realms.
- Formulated legal positions and rulings on a variety of topics, including criminal law, civil procedure and more.
- Drafted and filed legal motions and memoranda.
